Running from the heart: Norfolk Gazelles’ Valentine’s 10k – Sunday 23 May 2021
You may have guessed from the title that this 10k race normally takes place in February! But for 2021, this much-loved fixture of the road running calendar has a new month and a new venue: the Norfolk Showground.
Norfolk Gazelles are really excited to set up our race HQ at the Showground, because being here allows us to stage our event in the most Covid-safe way we can. For starters, there’s plenty of parking, and also there’ll be lots of space around the start and finish lines so runners and marshals can adhere to social distancing guidelines.
Runners all over East Anglia are keen to get back to competitive racing, and if you’ve raced the Valentine’s 10k before you’ll be pleased (maybe!) to know that the heart of the race remains the same: country roads around beautiful Marlingford and Easton. Plus, moving to the Showground gives us a hill finish, so that final sprint will really count.
The Showground also gives us enough room to start the race in waves, with small groups setting off together rather than a huge, crowded pack. Start times will range from 8.20-11.40am and will depend on your predicted finish time. Understandably, this year there won’t be a water station out on the route, so please provide your own hydration if you need it.
We’re thrilled to be racing once more, and putting on a safe but competitive event. For more details and to enter, go to: https://bit.ly/37TQkB5
